Not Just Valentine's Day

February 14th, 2011 marks my husband's and my 14th wedding anniversary.  This post is dedicated to the man I love, the man who stands beside me each and every day, the man who makes the best egg & cheese sandwiches,  the man who I can honestly say is my best friend, the man who I am proud to call my husband. 

Through the years, we have experienced laughter and tears, bright days, and days that were not so bright, fires and floods, days that I would just like to forget all together, and days that I wish would last forever.  We've made our mistakes, and have learned what it means to truly forgive. 

We've laughed, and cried.  We've laughed some more. 

As I reflect back on the last 14 years, I realize just how lucky I am to have you, how lucky we are to have each other.  Others have asked, do you wish you could change past events?  I have thought about this, and the answer is no.  I have always said that everything happens for a reason, and though you may never know what that reason is, history happens to teach us.  We may not be where we are today, if even but one of the littlest of little events had changed. 

I love the sound of your truck pulling in the driveway in the morning, the sound of the door opening as you walk through it each morning after work.  I love where we are, not only as individuals, but as two people in love.  I love our trips, and our late night talks that go on until the sun comes up.  I love that you are genuinely happy when I smile.  I love that we laugh at the same corny jokes, and at each others goofy mishaps.   I love when you hold me, and when you kiss my forehead.  I love that you believe in me, and stand beside me day after day. 

There isn't another being in this world, I would want to go through all that we have been through, and all that we will go through.  You are the only one I want, the only one I need.  Here's to another 40, may the road get smoother, and the wind stay at our backs!
