The Natural Disaster Updates...

It's been a few days since my last update, I figured you are all probably wondering how things are going.  It has been slow going for the last week.  The cleaning company has been so busy with emergency floods that they haven't been to our house for over a week now.  However, they will be at our house come first thing in the morning, and continue the clean up until it is done.  Fingers crossed!  The construction company can't come in until the cleanup and demolition has been completed.

Yes it has been crazy and difficult living in this small hotel room.  Trying to get paperwork filled out, dealing with the insurance adjuster, the mortgage company, the cleaning company, and the construction company, all the while still making doctor appointments for the girls, for their post op visits, getting x-rays every couple of weeks, trying to get our taxes done, which I do myself, trying to get a little work done with my website, and still try and make time for family time as well as couple time, yes, crazy has a whole new meaning.

To all my readers, and awesome blogging friends, I must say THANK YOU!  Your kind words, and thoughts, your well wishes, and kind gifts of help have all been so greatly appreciated.  Much burdon has been lifted because of all your help.

Now, going from a 2800 square foot house to a 500+ square foot, one bedroom hotel room with us, the girls and the dogs has been a challenge to say the least.  To say one must be organized, is an understatement.  Trying to get 2 twelve years old to be organized is a daily conundrum.  Trying to teach 2 large dogs not to follow you through the small room so you don't end up with their head in your butt is also a daily challenge, though it can be rather funny at times, so long as it's someone else that it's happening to.

My husband and I have made a few observations in the last week or two.  For instance though things are tight around the hotel room, we have access to a fitness room 24 hours a day, Wi-fi access, an indoor pool, daily maid service, breakfast each morning, and dinner four nights a week, all complimentary.  Many people have said to us that we should look into renting a house, or an actual apartment.  Trust me we have thought of this as well.  The reason for us staying here at the hotel... Well we only need to pay one bill a month, the price for the room, everything else is complimentary.  We still have to pay for our mortgage, and utilities in a house in which we are not able to live in, so paying for additional utilities is more of a burdon that we are not able to take on right now.  Even though we have insurance we need to pay for the living expenses first then get reimbursed several weeks later. In addition, trying to find a place that is furnished is extremely difficult, especially a place that will accept two huge dogs.  The hotel is fully furnished.  I don't want to have to buy furniture only to have to move it out of a place in several months.  I am not going to be purchasing any furniture until we are back in the house.

Though things are tight we are looking at the bright side of things, we were wondering who was going to change the sheets and make breakfast once we are back into the house?  Oh that would be us again... Crap.  I wonder if we could convince some of the people here to come out to our house and change the linens, and make us breakfast?
