Butternut Squash & Apples ~ A Thanksgiving Favorite!
This is a family favorite during the holidays in my home.
Butternut Squash & Apples Dish
1 Butternut Squash, peeled, seeded, and cut into small pieces
2 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1/2 Cup Firmly Packed Brown Sugar
2 Tablespoons Butter, melted
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
In a sauce pan of water, add Butternut Squash, when boiling begins, add apples. Once apples are easily pierced with a fork, drain, and place into mixing bowl. Add salt, brown sugar, butter, nutmeg and cinnamon.
Mash together with hand blender, or potato masher until desired consistency is obtained. (I prefer a less lumpy consistency.)
Serve warm.
** This is a dish that can be made ahead of time, and warmed in the oven for those holiday dinners.**

Thanks for this. I love being able to prepare some if not most of the side dishes ahead of time, it's such a time saver.
