Brandy's Nook of Books: 150 Best Grilled Cheese Sandwiches Book Review

 
It's time to step out of the box, and really see what grilled cheese is all about.  This book, 150 Best Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, is not about the average grilled cheese sandwich.   It's so much more than your white bread, american cheese melted and toasted together.  It's about pairing the right breads with the right cheeses.  It's about complimenting a cheese with a meat or fruit.  It's an awakening for your tastebuds. 
 
Dating back to the 1920's, White bread, and american cheese became popular in the Great Depression, and was often referred to as the "Cheese Dream."  Originally, the grilled cheese sandwich was served as an open-faced sandwich, not like you know it today. 
 
With recipes like Grilled Egg, Cheese and bacon on biscuits, to a Brie and Respberry with Hazelnut Spread, there is something to please just about everyone. 
 
Now there is just something special about a Grilled Cheese sandwich.  A classic comfort food.  ( My husband absolutely hates that term!)  Grilled Cheese sandwiches were probably one of the first thing you ever learned to cook.  Yet why many of us never think to add to the flavors, is a mystery.  The photography in the book was just surperb, I wanted so badly to reach into those photos and take a piece.  ( I probably shouldn't have tried reading this book while on an empty stomach!)  Directions were easy to follow, and all the recieps were extremely DO-able! 
 
A must have book for those who would like to add some more flavor to those drab, same old lunches, and really a great way to get those little ones to try out new things!
