A Single Post

In light of the recent tragic school shooting this will be my only post today. I wanted to take a moment and say a few things.

First and foremost, my heart, thoughts and prayers go out to each and every individual affected by this horrific tragedy. I cannot even begin to comprehend the immense pain and heartache of losing a child.

Secondly...

I think it's a shame. It's a shame that it takes an event of this magnitude to take stock in our own lives and really look at our own children and be grateful for all that we have.

It's a shame that the families of these 20 children will never see them attend a dance, graduate, or start families of their own.

It's a shame that there are so many people that are misdirecting the blame and crying for tighter gun control. Gun control is not the issue here. We have strict gun laws in place. An unstable person intent on hurting or killing others will find a way to carry out their plans whether it's with guns, box cutters, poison, etc.

It's a shame that anyone that knew this shooter turned their head and brushed off any comments they believed were made in gest.

It's a shame that the media feels the need to "glorify" and "sensationalize" these events, and that other unstable persons who will be bombarded with the media coverage will believe that if they want to be remembered for all eternity by millions of people across the country, this is the way to do it.

I think it's a shame that reporters feel it necessary to interview a seven year old for any news of the events just so they relay it as "breaking" or they feel it neseccary to try and contact the victims families for an exclusive. These families have just experienced the most horrific days of their lives. What they need is time to grieve, not to have a microphone shoved in their faces.

It's a shame.  Simple as that. There are no answers why something like this happens, and most likely never will be.  We cannot let a day go by without telling the ones we love, just that...  "we love you".
