My Update To You All...
I have been noticing a huge jump in my daily numbers and am wondering if it has something to do with everyone checking in to see if I have any updated information on my news of our house fire.
I am truly touched to receive so many well wishes from everyone, it is very comforting to know just how many sincere, and genuine people are out there, and how loyal my readers are. I do infact have several updates on the fire front so to speak.
I think reality finally settled in last night, while trying to comfort my larger, but younger of our two dogs, who was probably the most distraught. I think laying in bed, settling down, while he was beside the bed, I just had so much time to think about things, everything that happened, everything that needs to be done, and the little things that we need, and need to do. I have had to write everything down, and keep a notepad beside the bed, as things come up, just so we don't forget anything. I had finally broken down, and can say I lost it. I cried like a baby! The realization that we are infact homeless, and living out of bags, not having our daughters here with us, and having to go and visit them each day, realizing the extent of the damage to our house, and the amount of time that it is going to take to get back into the house, just all came to a head this morning around 3am. Sleep is just about non-exsistant at this point.
We have had two Fire Investigators out to the scene, who both could not determine just how the fire started. It has been deemed accidental and undetermined. They can't prove the dogs didn't go into the area and hit something or the cat chewed on a cord, which has NEVER happened before, etc,. My husband and I know that the only thing in the corner where it started was a TV which was off, a lamp which was off, and a DVR box from our cable company that was off, but had power to it, as the time always showed on the front panel. Due to the investigators response, our insurance company is not going to have the manufacturer's of these devices come in and investigate further. So now we are trying to get the ball rolling on getting the house gutted, and rebuilt.
We have lost all of our clothing, and all of our food, including the pets supplies. Even my stockpiled items. Everything is covered in soot, and the smell is just unbearable in the house right now. I washed my glasses, and can still smell the smoke on the frames.
Though my husband and I are living out of a hotel room, we have our daughters living with my mom, who has been shuffling them back and forth to school, and the animals we found out are most comfortable and at ease, being quarantined in a single room within the far side of the house in the basement that doesn't have smoke damage. We have found a place that will take ALL of us, we just now need to get this place approved through the insurance company, which I am hoping will happen before Friday. I am hoping that if and when it gets approved, we will be able to get into this place and begin getting back a little normalcy.
I wanted to let everyone know that though this is a stressful situation, we are still all okay, and doing the best we can. I will keep everyone up to date with any updates and have a few ideas that have been written down for future posts. I sincerely thank each and everyone of you who have wished us the best, and are keeping us in your prayers. It is definitely comforting.

Hi Brandy. I saw your post on fb and thought I might could help. My family went through this 4 years ago. We lost everything, including three cats in the fire. It took 6 mos to rebuild our home, during which we lived in a residence hotel for the first month; then a rental house. If I can help you at all, please, let me know! I learned some things that I wish I had known at the beginning. It's hard, it's traumatic, but you will get through it, and so will the kids.

I feel for you so much. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs and it must be so hard for them and you to feel seperated as a family. You are lucky to have your mom close to help out with your kids.
It must be so hard to have lost everything. and to have to rebuild.
Thinking of you.
We had people that had a fire buy our 39 ft camper to live in while they rebuilt. They could put the trailer right next to the house and the insurance paid for it and they got to keep it after. Keeping you in prayer
At least the blog didn't go up in flames and it will give you a place to "unplug" and focus on something different even if for short bursts of time.
My sister had to gut her home following a huge flood from broken pipes in the ceiling. Like the other lady mentioned, their insurance company purchased them a rather large travel trailer and they too parked it next to the house while it was being rebuilt. It helped them immensely. They cut out the drive time to be on-site to do anything from tend to the lawn to checking mail. They were there to oversee inspections, accept deliveries etc.
DO NOT BE TOO PROUD TO ASK FOR HELP! There are hundreds of us willing!
I too, am amazed that you can even blog, you're a strong woman!
Hopefully on Friday, your family can all be back together. I'll continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
We all appreciate the update.
((HUGE HUGS))
Goodness! So sorry to hear this.
I'll be praying for things to happen quickly!
When I was in elementary school my family's home burned to the ground. It was horrible!
I know you will be facing many different emotions over the next period of time.
Let folks reach out and help you. You'll be glad you did.
Oh...and don't worry about us. We'll be here when you get back!
You and your family are in my prayers.

Hugs & prayers to you & your family! My best friend's house flooded in December (frozen pipes) and they had to move out for three months while the entire downstairs and upstairs - it's a three-level split - was gutted and rebuilt. The insurance paid for new carpet, new sheetrock, new clothes, painting, etc.
They stayed in one of those long-term hotels that have a kitchen and is pretty close to our neighborhood. It was a terrible, frustrating experience - but you will get through it! Chin up & don't be afraid to have yourself a good cry now & then. :)
Brandy,
I just saw an update from you on Facebook so I had to come over. I'm so sorry that this happened to you! if you need anything, let me know and I'll do what I can to help you!
OMG I'm so sorry that your family is going through this. I had a small fire last year and I was scared to death for months so I can imagine how awful this has been for you all. I'm thankful that you made it out unhurt.
I'll say a prayer for your family. Best of luck
Praying for you.
I know that worrying about your pets is also an issue and while I don't have a whole lot to give I would really like to help. I have two bags of Purina Beneful and one bag of Eukanuba dog food. I also have a coupon for $5/1 15lb bag of Eukanuba dry food. I would gladly mail any of these items to you. I stock free dog food when I can and take it to the shelters. I wouldn't mind mailing it at all. Please let me know if you are interested. I know some dogs have a particular brand they must eat. hillbillyfrugal AT Gmail dot com
Prayers that it all gets much better very soon.
HI Brandy,
My thoughts and prayers with you... positive vibes your way! May God give you the strength to get through this!
"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference"...
my best to you,
