DIY'ing

Many readers have been asking how we are coming along on the painting of our house... Well it's coming along, slowly.  Of course it probably would be quicker if there weren't other things along the way that popped up, like replacing a door frame that had some dry rot, taking down the Christmas lights, (yes I realize that it is in fact June), or installing this shed.

Murphy's Law regularly visits our home.  So much so, that I am considering claiming him as a dependant on next years tax returns.  We began scraping and painting the house about 2 months ago.  We then had two weeks of solid rain.  We then decided that we really needed to put this 10 foot by 14 foot shed up to get the downstairs cleared of the tools and yard machines.  We had 3 days of wind.  (Scraping and painting is not yet complete.)

We begin putting this shed together yesterday morning, and although it has been relatively smooth sailing, working together with my husband, the construction of this has been a very long process.  (I should have known when I saw the bags of 1000 plus screws, nuts and bolts.)  We worked through the day, ordering pizza for dinner, and eating a slice in-between putting panels up, and didn't stop until 8 o'clock last night.

We still need to complete the roof and the doors for this shed, and what looks like a quick finish, will probably still take another day to complete.  I'm heading out today to purchase the shelving and lock for the shed, so when the construction is completed, we can get everything out to the shed right away, and hopefully gain back the first floor of my house.

It's funny how the "To Do" list grows quicker than you can cross them off.  There's only been 1 item that has come off our list this Spring... The deck has been completed.  The additions, however, have been growing by leaps and bounds.  They include:

~ Building Raised Vegetable Garden Beds. ( This way our Mastiff, can no longer eat ALL the vegetables...AGAIN)

~ Move the outdoor faucet connections

~ Finish scraping and painting the house

~ Create a natural Fence of Shrubs in side yard

~ Remove Shrubs from the other side of our house

~ revamp ALL the flower beds

~ Replace an aluminum window frame that has been stolen off our house... (Yes, stolen, so you cannot tell me that the economy is getting any better, esp, when people are stealing items right off of houses!)

~ Replace back fence

~ Finish building this shed

~ Replace water heater

~ Purchase shelving for the new stock room, (Since all the tools will now be in the shed)

I'm pretty sure that when we have finally completed this list, there isn't another item that can possibly be done to our home.  (Fingers Crossed!)

How big is your to-do list?
