Rewarded to Recycle?

Earth day is over, and yes I was made aware of additional things, small things that we could be doing to reuse and recycle. Rhode Island is a state that has curbside recycling in many communities already. However, the state currently gets 100% of the revenue for our recycling efforts. I think it is time for a change. I too would like to be rewarded for my efforts. My family already sets aside the aluminum cans so we can redeem them for cash, instead of placing them into the bins.

In order to be able to change things, we all need to flood the emails of our representatives requesting change. The Recycle Bank offers you points for the amount you recycle, based on weight. You can redeem your points for free items at the grocery store, online discounts, in-store discounts and more. To email your local officials find your Rhode Island town's home page below and tell them you want the Recycle Bank in your community!

They also have recycle kiosks, they have put on campus's in other cities. You bring your recyclable waste to the kiosks, scan your ID tag, weigh your material and place it in the correct bins. I don't know about you but I would be more than willing to do this!

So send your email to your representative today, and send this blog to every Rhode Islander you know!
