Stop & Shop Brands V's Name Brands

Have you visited Stop & Shop lately?  I have, and I have to tell you, I am really not liking what I am seeing, and several people are mentioning to me, they think their prices are increasing.  So it looks like I will be going on assignment, and doing some math at some local stores again.

The video above will show you that the store version, isn't always better, at least in this case.  I am planning on trying to match a store brand with a name brand on a weekly basis, as an informative piece.  One of my biggest pet peeves is to try a store product, only to be sorely disappointed when I get home and use it.

Now, first let me give you a little background as to why I came up with this.  Over the last several weeks, I have noticed that Stop & Shop has stopped carrying several Kikkomann products, that is, once the $3.00 off 1 coupon came out for it.  They have also stopped carrying Muir Glen Tomato products.  Not only have they removed the product from the shelves, there isn't even a spot for them any longer.  Now Muir Glen is famous for releasing 75¢ off coupons.  Coincidence?

I am noticing more and more Stop & Shop brands hitting the shelves, and less name brand products on the shelves, with larger price tags on them as well.

The Honey Bunches of Oats was the last straw for me.  I love the one with Strawberries, and have always purchased it from Stop & Shop.  Now there isn't even a shelf spot for them, nope, it's been completely replaced with a Stop & Shop version.  So I gave it a try....  Disappointed, to say the least.

I guess this will be one more product I put on my Walmart list, along with those Kikkomann and Muir Glen products.

ugh. I hate trying store brand items, because I am always so afraid I won't like it, or it wont be as durable. Thanks for this, I will be looking forward to your fututre articles on this topic. Thanks so much!

LOVE that you're doing this! What a great idea. I can't tell you how many times I walk by an item on the shelves, and wonder if it's any good. Even if the item costa only a dollar, I don't want to waste my money if the product sucks! Thanks!

This is great. It's about time someone did something like this. I do have a question though, I know you have affiliate links and participate in sponsored posts, can I ask if this is a sponsored post?

Hi ANON, This was something that I have been thinking about doing for some time now, and is not a sponsored post. I am innow way getting paid to write about this, nor am I receiving any type of product compensation. These are just my personal opinions, to inform readers what my thoughts are.

You have my attention! I always want to go for the store brand. Half of the time that I do, the kids can tell and do not like it and I end up throwing it away.

OMG! Thank you so much for doing something like this! I think a lot of people are afraid to purchase a store brand becaue they don't want to waste their money. Can you do Oreo Cookies?

Personally I think it is called being smart rather than a cheapskate as you can certainly save a lot of cash with coupons.
